Announcing Geofinder for ExpressionEngine
We've just released our second ExpressionEngine add-on. Geofinder is a module that enables you to create store locator type functionality with any of your ExpressionEngine entries.
A simple form gathers user entered address and radius (in miles) and queries ExpressionEngine entries to find matches within the defined radius. Results are sorted by the closest distance and result URL’s are bookmarkable for easy sharing.
What value does Geofinder offer?
Geofinder allows you to quickly build and create store-locator type functionality, saving you time and adding extra value to your ExpressionEngine based site. Your clients will rejoice!
Be creative with the results page
- Show results on a Google map or as a list.
- Provide a “Get Directions” link, that uses Google Maps API to show detailed directions from the user’s address to the location entry address.
- If no results are found, allow users to increase the radius they specified without having to go back to the form.
- Make the results clickable so that users can view details about the location entry.

What a great add-on. I am needing something like this on a project I am working on. Can’t wait to try it out

@Justin Long - thanks and enjoy!

Are your 2 EE add-ons suitable for use on a UK website?
I’m thinking of the postcode rather than zipcode and any other US type info.
They both look good and could be useful.

@Paul Frost - I haven’t tested extensively, but I just published a new music venue that is located in London (Half-Moon Pub) and Geotagger got the right lat/lng. Geofinder appears to have no problems finding the newly added music venue as well.

Is it possible to use kilometers as well as miles?
Jason Ferrell 9.10.2009 8:04 AM
@Hambo - I will be adding the ability to search by kilometers in the next release since I’ve had multiple inquiries. The next release should be ready in less than a week.

Excellent news
Hopefully I can get this to work in Australia too.
